The MIDS/Link16 Advanced Course provides participants with a deeper understanding of the operational use and associated advantages of tactical data links.
The course explores the key elements for optimising the range of applications for MIDS/L-16. In addition, aspects such as interoperability and test procedures, Information Exchange Requirements (IER) are covered in the course in order to enable the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The course covers the process from mission preparation to execution in an operational environment.
Course objective
Course participants will become familiar with the relevant content and functional processes that enable the successful operation of specific and generic platforms in MIDS/L-16 networks.
Course content
Significance of a platform’s IER and the associated effects on network design
Roles and tasks resulting from network design
Roles and tasks resulting from OPTASKLink (including crypto)
Interoperability and dependencies between C2 and non-C2
Mission sequence with MIDS / Link16 support based on an operational example (Digital Fighter Control)
Importance of interoperability tests and their impact on operational deployment
